Me and my Coastal Scents Palette

Salaams and Salutations Beauties...

Have you picked up your Coastal Scents palette yet? Well if you haven't I've decided to post some of my looks from using it. I will admit that I have dropped the ball on taking pics ( yeah yeah I know). These are some neutral looks...I've used UDEPP with each of them. Coastal scents colors are highly pigmented...they are GREAT. And it's great on the wallet. They have also come out with new paletts, I'm trying to resist because there are MAC brushes I want for my birthday next month.

Enjoy....

Weekend Promanad ....OYIN handmade!!!

Salaams and Salutations,

This Saturday UmmAminahHonest and I met up with a fellow Soror of ours and headed to Baltimore for a teeter. So first we teetered to Modest Intentions on Reisterstown Road. We teeted for a while in the modest clothes: abayas, hijabs, hijabs and more hijabs. Geesh..do I have enough...mmmmm NO I don't..LOL.

Then we got my GPS on my new phone working and headed out to OYIN. OYIN has a new store in Baltimore on N. Charles Street. Its opened from 12pm to 7pm. Please note that you have to feed the meets in Baltimore on the weekends ( that sucks!).

So we made it! Since I have an upcoming interview with Jamyla- the mixtress, I will only give a taste of all the pics I took.

Exit the Apple is not only the flagship store for OYIN but also other interests for Pierre and Jamyla. That includes bags, t-shirts, books, and music. These two are all about nurturing your passions. UmmAminahHonest got a boost of energy from these two because they are 'living their dream'.

UmmAminahHonest buying product..doesn't she look happy!

UmmAminahHonest and our lovely Soror needed product introduction from the OYIN team. Me, being the OYIN honey I am..I picked out what I needed. I use the Burnt Sugar Pomade and Shine and Define on the kids hair. Shine and Define helps with the frizzles and the pomade makes weekly braiding smoother.

My haul: Shine and Define, Burnt Sugar Pomade, After Bath, with samples

Know that right now when you come in the store you walk out with lots of samples. I received samples of Whipped Pudding, Poo Bar and Juices and Berries. I just believe you can never have enough OYIN. Get there early..they open at 12pm. On the 28th they are asking for testimonials from their customers...don't know if I can make it (sad face).

Visiting Oyin was a great experience. NH is now ready to go. He's going to sponsor my next haul of Honey Hemp Condish (the big bottle), Cup of Joe and maybe a T-shirt or book too.

DONE!!

ME!!!

Salaams and Saluations..

HA and I have been entering all types of contests lately. I just so happened to enter one of Amina's contests over at Coup de Coeur. Thanks to random.org I got goodies. Those goodies were Hair Milk from Karen Body Beautiful and a natural soap.
Now I've NEVER heard of KBB....I was waaaaayyyyyyy out the loop on THIS little lady.

Well I checked out EmpressRi and her vlog here. She is a guru of natural hair products...I love her reviews and she review them ALL!! Karen's Body Beautiful, Oyin, Anita Grant...and the list goes on. I'm teling you. If you looking for a product review..go to YouTube...it's THERE!!

I'd like to thank Amina and the Academy for widening my scope of Natural hair products. I will have to do a product review on this product once I use it on the kids. Enjoy EmpressRi's review, and B. Beautiful,

natural beauty: bentonite clay

hiya beauties! so i bought bentonite clay (Aztec brand from Whole Foods) to do a detoxification and deep cleansing for my hair and scalp. well i ran across a post on bgwlh where she had used it for a facial cleanser. my skin has really suffered at the hands of this cold/flu bug that i had and since i had to put an appearance at the masjid and at my sisters' house i thought i'd give it a go. i took about a teaspoon of the clay and mixed with enough water to make a paste and i scrubbed my face with it. i rinsed it off in the shower and i have to tell you i was quite pleased with the subtle glow my skin had! this will be an addition to my skincare regimen for sure.

if you do a search on youtube you will find a plethora of videos on bentonite clay!!!

Product Review: Oyin Handmade

Oyin handmade started out as an online endeavour a couple of years ago. It's run by Jamila and Pier. They are the craziest couple I've ever come across. Their website presently sells their Body/hair products. I am SOOOO an OYIN honey. This means that I like: The honey hemp conditioner, the whipped shea, funk butter, Greg's juice, juices and berries ( oud to Coming to America here--lol), and stuff I haven't even tried. If you like hand make products, smell goods, or are a product junkie like ME--Oyin is for you.

So lets do a product breakdown:

Hair:

Greg's Juice:
Is a leave in hair pick me up. Great smell. Really light. For those with natural hair it won't weight it down. NH loves it. He actually commandeered mine..oh well. It beeez like that some times.

Juices and Berries:
Its the same type of product as Greg's Juice. Its more fruity than GJ. Just a great.

Burnt Sugar palmade:
I use this on my girls heads. It helps to control the frizzes and fly aways. Has a great smell that lasts. A little goes a long way so don't OVER DO IT. Remember that too much product can weight the hair down.

Head to Toe Honey Wash: Can we say: LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEE IT!! Some may disagree with me on this product but I use this for hair and body. Great on the kiddos. The only this is that it doesn't lather like traditional body washes or soap for that matter. Still a great product. I would suggest that you a poof when using it, even on the kiddies.

Honey-Hemp condish:
Love this too. It smells great. And the thing is that you can use it as a leave in if you cut some with water in a spray bottle. I'd just rather use the GJ or the J&B rather than do that. But it's an option.

Shine & Define:
I also use this product on the girls hair. They have a grade of hair that is very fly away when dry. So when I braid their hair weekly I use little dabs of Shine and Define as I braid it. This is an essential for my kids hair.

Grand Poo Bar:
I only bought this ONCE. It's too complicated. If your use to lather..it's not here. NOTE: you have to CUT the bar because you can't manipulate it as is. And for long hair..like Big A's ..it's a pain.

Of course there are things I want..but I'm a stick to the stuff I got. LOL
