Weekend Edition: Days 10 & 11 '30hijab N 30days'

Here is the weekend edition. This weekend was VERY busy for me so here is 2 posts in 1.

Day 10:
I had a sorority event in NJ. So I was out of town for the day. I did get a chance to snap a couple of photos. Here I tried the 'Summer Jedi' buy Amenakin on YouTube. I don't think it was TOO much of a fail..lol.

Day 11:
The International Sister's Network fashion show. The local chapter of my Sorority helps out every year. I only saw some of the show but it was nice. Its nice to find fine and unique pieces that make you look and feel great..as a Muslim women.

Here are are...a week in. I really have to THINK about which hijab I'm going to wear. Even though I might have a couple..I still gotta THINK about it. Can't repeat. Today I picked a Drape Scarf from Pearl Daisy. These are like extra big pashmina's that are not as THICK as a pashmina. So soft and easy to drape and fold. She has added some new colors to the selection. I'm thinking about a peach for the spring.

I think weekend hijab selection will be harder..since I might not have to go anywhere. We shall see. Good thing I am busy this weekend as well.

This overgarment was made buy Ms. Tawanday Mackay. Love the detail on the arms. No need for any other accessories, like bangles or a necklace. This light blue, goes great with the black hijab and is very flattering.

I have been busy looking at ideas for prizes for the contest. I'm excited, really. I hope you have been paroozing over your collections to make sure WHICH hijabs get featured, I know I have.

So let's get to RULES *dastardly things*:

Bringing in the New Year on Day One

Its a NEW year...2012. WOW. Bet you weren't thinking about '2012' in like 1999!!
Well here in the Maryland area there has been a dinner/performance cruise for about two years now. This year was Day ONE II. Muslims and Muslim friendly occupying the whole boat. Soothed buy spoken word and jazzy sounds. A real opportunity to dress up and become 'Halal Sexy'.

The boat was packed with couples and groups alike. Date night for many married couples, kids tucked away at grandma's or with a sitter. Girls and guys coming out to see who's to be seen, hoping to make a connection.
ME?? Well I just got pretty and showed up.

EVERYONE looked so nice. They really knew how to do up 'Halal Sexy'. Its sad that this event can't or won't be done in other cities. Muslims are human too and WANT to go out and have a good time. HFW: Day 5 Eid

Today we showcase EID. Both EIDs for me were really great. Lots of family time and seeing people you don't normally see on a day to day basis. I even got henna for the 2nd EID.






This abaya was made buy Tawanda Mackey from fabric I picked up in Philly over the summer. It is a 3/4 length and I wear it with a cardigan. The Hijab is a pink drape scarf from Pearl Daisy. The headband was from Forever 21.

HFW: Day 4 Vacation

Its Day 4 of HFW...and its VACATION TIME!!

I'm not one for long vacations but I do do a couple of mini vacations a couple of times a year. Next year I'm planing a week in Aruba **happy dance**.

This look is great for strolling down the beach or boardwalk somewhere nice. The overgarment is crepe and very flowy. All i need is a big floppy had an some pink flip flops!

Breaking all the rules?? Hmmm well here we mean FASHION RULES. Poka dots and stripes, denim on denim, all neutrals, stuff like that. I chose Black and brown. Most would say they don't go together but I think I pulled them off quiet nicely.
