~Ramadan Mubarak* 1433~

Asalaamu Alaikum ALL,
Praying that you all have a blessed Ramadan and
that your fasts, ibadah and prayers are accepted during this blessed month.

Ramadan is the (month) in which was sent down the Qur'an, as a guide to mankind, also clear (Signs) for guidance and judgment (Between right and wrong). So every one of you who is present (at his home) during that month should spend it in fasting, but if any one is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed period (Should be made up) by days later. Allah intends every facility for you; He does not want to put to difficulties. (He wants you) to complete the prescribed period, and to glorify Him in that He has guided you; and perchance ye shall be grateful.- Surah Al-Baqara (The Cow) 2:185

Hijabi Project 2011

Salaams Ladies,
OK I soooo forgot about this. Alhumdulillah I was reminded buy a TRUE friend from her iftar invitation.

So this is how the Hijabi Project works. We here in our area are collecting hijabs for less fortunate sisters and new shahadah's for EID. You can either #1: Start the same program in your area or #2 contribute to the collection here in the DC/MD area.

Please provide new and or clean unused/under used hijabs. Sister if you haven't worn it in a YEAR...it needs to go. This is the time to be a blessing to someone else...especially during the month of Ramadan.

You can or a group of you can donate hijabs, $$ to purchase hijabs or BOTH. Please email me at ummamirah(at)beautifulummah(dot)com for pick up locations in DC and or Maryland. Last year my friend iftar garnered 50 gently used hijabs for new shahadas and sister's at Muslimat Al Nisaa in Baltimore. We will be collecting till the LAST weekend of Ramadan so that we can get the items together for the EID...iA.

May Allah(swt) continue to bless you during this blessed month.

The Hijabi Project 2010

Salaams and Salutations Beauties,

So here we are..another year...another Ramadaan. For those who aren't Muslim, but read this blog, Ramaadan is one of the most sacred months in Islam. Its the month in which the Islamic holy book, The Qur'an, was reveled. During this month Muslims fast (no food, no water, no marital relations) from just before dawn to sunset, all over the world. Its a month of repentance, of curbing one's desire, to focus on our Creator.

Last year BU came up with the Hijabi Project 2009(read about it here and here. A way for sisters to donate hijabs, accessories, and or money for new shahadas in the Washington, DC area. This was due to the increase of new Muslimahs in the area under 25, masha~allah (May Allah be praised). This year...readers, make it happen where YOU live. Host a 'Hijabi Project 2010' iftar, the meal after a day of fasting, in your community. Collect gently used or under used hijabs for new shahadas, sister that are incarcerated or sister in need. These are trying times we live in, Ramaadan is a way to purge what you have and insha~allah( God-willing) you'll receive a blessing in the next life.

Post a comment and let us know when your iftar is/was, and how many hijabs you collected? At the end of Ramaadan the reader who collected the MOST hijabs and or hijabi swag (pins, stick pins, accessories + hijabs) will WIN....a gift card to LUSH!!

**to claim this prize you will need to post a pick of said hijabs and sag on your blog (if you blog) or email it to me: ummamirah[at]beautifulummah[dot]com**

So start planning your dates. Get your iftar list together.

Hijabi Project: Update

Salaams and Salutations Beauties,

Soooo here we are, the END of Ramadan. I pray that those who have been fasting made the MOST out of the month. And that can mean many things for many people. Whether it's just making one's prayers ONE TIME every day this month to praying tarawirh every night. May Allah(swt) accepts your acts of worship and accept your fasts...amin.

So in like of doing something good during Ramadan you know that we did the Hijabi Project here in the DC area for new Muslim sisters. Well....the ummah came out in support. Shurkan to ALL those sister's who donated hijabs ( and there were many a pretty one!!), money, donations from their stores!!! I mean Sunday I went to a sister's iftar where a WHOLE basket of hijabs.

Some went to the DC project, the majority (a long with donated clothes) went to the Muslimat Al-Nisaa in Baltimore. Check it out..a muslim women's shelter in Baltimore. I pray that these hijabs help the new shahada's and those in need, Amin.
